The candlelight vigil and memorial service is being organized by the family of Othniel Whyte, who died under tragic circumstances on June 4, 2012.

Whyte was found floating in the sea off the coast of Union island, hours after a shootout between a local police officer and foreigners on board a vessel flying a Venezuelan flag.

Whyte’s son Abdon said the vigil will start at 7:30 p.m. at the airport parking lot in Clifton and proceed to the Hugh Mulzac Square in Clifton.

He is inviting members of the public to join the family in the vigil, “as we remember my father for the man he was.”

Participants in the vigil are asked to wear something white.
