Liberty Lodge shines with Scotiabank Bright Future programme
The Scotiabank Bright Future programme continued to shine last weekend when members of the institution handed over a washing machine to the Liberty Lodge Boys Training Centre.{{more}}
Last Saturday, the institution received the machine, which Scotiabank representative Janine Defreitas says she hopes will make the lives of the 19 boys easier.
The youngsters are between the ages of 12 and 17.
Defreitas said that come June this year, a mentorship programme will also be implemented at the centre, in which Scotiabank will organize football and Kiddiesâ Cricket, karate, as well as technology programmes.
âWe believe that the active involvement in sports and other activities will help to promote strong bonds, self-confidence and motivation, pro social skills while keeping their minds busy,â Defreitas said.
âThe Scotiabankâs Bright Future programme is committed to making a difference in the lives of children and communities where we work. The bright future programme is a key component of our shared values and commitment to corporate social responsibility,â she added.
Scotiabank has sponsored many charitable events such as the Miss Heritage Organization, the South East Steel Orchestra, Uncle Skinny Kids Carnival,the Adonal Foyle Kerosene Lamp Foundation, Kiddiesâ Cricket across the entire region and Can Fest 2012. (JJ)
