Known for their calming atmosphere and friendly, efficient staff, the salon will celebrate its fifth anniversary on May 15, by giving all of their customers a free deep steam for their tresses.

Proprietor of The Beauty Shop Sylvania Little has over 18 years experience in the business and is happy to have fulfilled her lifelong dream of opening a salon.

In addition to celebrating their anniversary each year, The Beauty Shop aims to give as much as they receive.

“Our aim is to give back to the community… we usually give back every year,” Little declared.

Although this year’s donation has not yet been made, Little assures that someone will soon be a proud owner of a computer. Many people have benefitted from the small business’s goal; part of last year’s donation went to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.

“A couple years we went at the Mental Home…and the Lewis Punnett Home. We also gave a scholarship last year,” the business owner noted.

The small establishment employs five persons who work to meet their customers’ every need.

Employee of two years Nakeshia Myers is excited that the salon will celebrate its fifth anniversary.

“It’s been a great experience working here,” Myers, who trained at Chawa’s New Millennium Beauty Salon, said.

“I’ve learned different things since I’m here and I was able to improve myself and gain more confidence in what I do.”

Praising their atmosphere and customer service, Myers encourages persons to come to The Beauty Shop.

“We are capable of doing our best to meet our customers or anybody who comes to The Beauty Shop’s needs,” she said confidently.

Green Hill resident Michelle Velox vouches for the excellent treatment at the salon.

“The workers are family,” she noted. “They work as a family and it’s very welcoming”.

Velox told SEARCHLIGHT that she has been a client since the salon first opened and has never been disappointed.

“At first, I never used to bother with my hair, but she [Sylvania] encouraged me to fix up my hair,” Velox, who was doing a treatment, said.

The Beauty Shop offers a wide range of services, including braiding and locking of hair.

“We do foot soaking for senior citizens…and everything that entails hair,” the owner said.

The salon is located on North River Road, upstairs Willy’s Restaurant and guarantees to meet your convenience as walk-ins and appointments are acceptable. Appointments can be made via telephone number: 485-6943.(BK)
