Canadian officials to visit SVG


Diane Ablonczy, Canada’s Minister of State of Foreign Affairs with responsibility for the Americas and Consular Affairs, will make an official visit to St Vincent and the Grenadines on Friday.{{more}}

The Minister, who will be accompanied by Richard Hanley, High Commissioner of Canada accredited to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, will meet with Prime Minister Dr Ralph E. Gonsalves at 10:30 a.m., to discuss matters of bilateral interest to both countries.

This forum will present an opportunity to discuss the recent visa restrictions imposed on Vincentians by the Canadian authorities, a release from the Prime Minister’s office said.

Following this meeting, Ablonczy will be making an announcement concerning Canada’s financial support for new projects for the Regional Security System (RSS), totaling $4.1 million CAD. The event is scheduled to take place at the E.T. Joshua Airport, commencing at 11:45 a.m. Prime Minister Gonsalves, Minister of National Security and current Chairman of the OECS will make brief remarks.

SVG has a long-standing bilateral relationship with Canada, based on trade and investment links, tourism, family and people-to-people ties.

Ablonczy is expected to depart the State at 1 p.m.
