On Tuesday, president of the Financial Alliance Lecture Series Luke Browne received EC$5,000 on behalf of his group, which last month hosted a series of financial education lectures at the Peace Memorial Hall. The group plans to have another lecture series later this month.

Peggy DaSilva, senior nursing officer of the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital and the Lewis Punnett Home received medical supplies which will be used for the benefit of persons in Canouan. A fountain and other supplies for medical services in Canouan will also be made on that island.

For building renovations, EC$1,000 was given to Sr Naira Pajotte of the St Benedict’s Hospital and Day Nursery.

In their effort to promote cultural diversity, CRD donated EC$5,000 to Julian “Pilling” Pollard of SVG Players International for the children’s sections in their carnival band this year.

Pollard expressed his gratitude for the donation, especially since the mas band for 2013 is themed “Garifuna Story”, which he said is the most important story in the Caribbean.

He pointed out that the band aims to educate children about the Garifuna people, who are not only a part of Vincentian heritage, but also a thriving race in Central America.

SVG Players International has three children’s sections this year: Aurora, Kalinago and Spirits of Ashanti.

Financial controller of CRD Tony Telemaque said the wider community is a huge support to CRD and so it is very important that the company is a part of developing the community as well.

Telemaque and public relations officer Maridonna Burgin presented the various representatives with their donations.

CRD, formerly CCA, is the main construction company on the Grenadine island of Canouan and employs over 400 of the island’s people. Their main office is located on the mainland, in Arnos Vale.(BK)
