One-day Negotiating Skills Seminar set for Thursday


A one-day seminar on Negotiating Skills will be held here on Thursday at the Ministry of Health Conference Room.{{more}}

The seminar, which is a collaboration between the Centre for Enterprise Development Inc (CED) and the Barbados Institute of Management and Productivity (BIMAP), is designed to give participants a step by step guide to effective and skillful negotiation, through the application of techniques and approaches which positively influence the outcome of any negotiation process.

The seminar will look at: What is Negotiation; Types of Negotiation; Theoretical Approaches to Negotiation; Characteristics of Good Negotiators; Effective Negotiation Skills; Negotiation Tactics; Common Negotiation Mistakes; Negotiation Dilemmas; Improving Your Negotiating Skills; Mediation, Conciliation and Arbitration; the Role of a Labour Department/Arbiter in Negotiations; among others.

It will be conducted by BIMAP facilitator David Carrington, who is also a part-time lecturer in Human Resource Development and Law for Human Resource Professionals at the UWI Open Campus in Barbados.
