A release from Coreas said that the vehicles have already been imported and will be presented to the Carnival Development Corporation at a special handing over ceremony to take place later this month.

“In 2012, calls were made by several of the leading soca artistes to increase the prize money for the soca monarch competition. This matter received the attention of both the chairman of the CDC, Dennis Ambrose, and Prime Minister Gonsalves who promised to look at ways of addressing the issue. Subsequently, the managing director of Coreas Hazells, Joel Providence, held discussions with the CDC chairman, who accepted the offer of the two vehicles as prizes to the winners of the calypso and soca monarch competitions,” the release said.

Providence, who is a past chairman of the Carnival Development Corporation, stated that Coreas has always had a strong and genuine interest in supporting Vincy Mas and will continue to work with the CDC and the components of carnival in lifting the quality of the national festival.

Coreas Hazells is a leading distributor of beer, spirits and wine.
