NEMO hosts three-day school safety course in Bequia

Teachers and other stakeholders in Bequia are being given the opportunity to hone their knowledge and techniques to design, implement and evaluate safety plans for schools.{{more}}

This will take place over a three-day period, during a School Safety Course being held by the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO).

The School Safety Course exposes participants to the concepts of disaster risk management.

Participants will also be given information on the key activities to promote and implement a school safety plan, the benefits of emergency management preparedness in school, simulations and drills for schools, and the role of education in risk management.

The School Safety Course targets teachers at early childhood, primary and secondary school levels and is organized by the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) with technical support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA) and the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Organisation (CDEMA) under the CARICOM Brazil Cooperation — Living Schools Project.

The course, which began yesterday, is being held at the Bequia Anglican Primary School, beginning at 9 a.m. each day.
