Gospel Fest launches Sunday


Organizers of the annual Gospel Festival have promised another existing year, as the 11th edition of the event kicks off this weekend.{{more}}

Up to 90 churches from 36 denominations are expected to showcase their singing, dancing, drama and other talents, as the month long festival, sponsored this year by Busta and Fruta distributors Facey Trading Limited, launches on Sunday at the Victoria Park, under the theme “Lifting Jesus Higher.”

Sunday’s launch will feature performances by various church groups, including The Angelicals, Fenton Harry and the Voices of Victory, the Ecclesia Gospel Band, and featured artistE Positive out of Trinidad and Tobago.

Throughout the month, showcases will take place in eight zones around the country: the Grenadines, North Leeward, South Leeward, Kingstown, South Windward, North Windward and Marriaqua.

A group of 20 missionaries from the United States of America is expected to participate in the festival, and would include top gospel promoter Pastor Veryl Howard, and a well-known film producer.

The festival will culminate on the weekend of April 27 and 28, featuring the top performances of the month, and Canada based Vincentian gospel artiste Zina Howard.(JJ)
