Emerald Energy, a business owned and operated by 20-year-old Kamara Jerome of Questelles, was among 493 teams from the region to enter the CIC, which was organised by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Barbados and the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT). He will showcase his project at the Finals, Expo and Awards Ceremony, to take place on April 25 and 26, 2013, at the Hilton Barbados, where he will be provided with international visibility and feedback from experts and the public, networking opportunities with potential clients and investors.

Emerald Energy is a business that focuses on renewable energy, using a model (cigarette hull) boat which is powered entirely by solar and wind energy. The vessel is designed with a shape that will enable it to move quickly and smoothly and produce less drag. The company aims to combat the overuse of non-renewable resources that result in a scarcity of these resources.
