Able Rate Edley Samuel joined the Royal Navy in May 2012. After his 10-week initial naval training course he transferred to the Defence Maritime Logistics School, where he underwent a 12-week course to qualify as a logistician (supply chain).

Now fully trained, Edley will be putting his new skills into practice initially at the Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose, also in Cornwall.

There he will join a team who are responsible for ensuring that the unit has everything it needs to operate, ordering and storing millions of pounds worth of equipment, from engineering parts to stationery.

The former pupil of St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College previously worked as a physical education teacher.

“I joined the Royal Navy for the way of life, a secure job and to see the world,” he said. “I’ve enjoyed learning about my new career during training and also the week-long leadership course at Talybont in Wales. I’m pleased to have completed the second phase of my training and excited to be taking up my first draft.”
