Narcotics officer injured by CID officer in friendly fire

A member of the Narcotics division (drugs squad) of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force up to yesterday, Thursday was said to be in stable condition at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital after being shot by another officer while on duty in Rose Place.{{more}}

The incident took place on Wednesday night around 9:30 a police source said.

Michael Charles, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Ag) told SEARCHLIGHT that based on the information they had received, the officer whom he (Charles) said he did not want to identify at this time was shot in the upper arm by another officer; he however said that he was not able to confirm in which arm the officer was shot.

The incident is being treated as friendly fire Charles said.

SEARCHLIGHT understands that the shooter is an officer of the Criminal Investigations Department.

The drugs squad officer was shot while the police were in the area conducting some duties, the deputy commissioner said.

“Something went wrong and the officer was shot,” he said.
