McKree took the EC$30,000 grand prize on Friday, November 2, during the Digicel Crack the Code grand finale which was held at Heritage Square in Kingstown.

Launched on Friday, May 25, Crack the Code offered customers the opportunity to win cash and other great prizes just by topping up their prepaid phone EC$10 (or more) or paying their post paid bill in full and on time.

Commenting after winning, McKree, who took the top prize from a group made up of nine other competitors, said, “I feel very good man.”

The labourer, who said that he has no immediate plans for the money, revealed that he has been a Digicel customer for the last 10 years and he was overjoyed to be rewarded with EC$30,000. “Thanks for making this possible”, he added.

When asked why he threw his pocket money into the crowd, he commented while smiling, “that was old money; this is new money”.

McKree and the nine other Crack the Code finalists were randomly selected to take part in the grand finale to compete for the EC$30,000 during the life of the promotion which officially ended on August 4, 2012.

They were randomly chosen just because of the simple fact that they topped up their pre paid phone EC$10 or more or paid their post paid bill in full and on time.

McKree won the money after the four-digit code he picked opened Digicel’s safe, which contained the grand prize of EC$30,000, a release from the telecommunications company said.

On the evening of the competition, the 10 finalists were asked to spin Digicel’s Wheel of Fortune to see in which order they would get to select one of the four-digit codes that was being held by the 10 Digicel girls. When McKree spun the wheel, he was asked to select his four-digit code in the ninth position. He picked the code 7350 that eventually opened the safe and won him the money.

The other competitors who all won prizes were Natasha Commissiong (Samsung Note with one year data), Mitchra Durrant (BB9900 with three months data), Philon Hackshaw (BB9900 with three months data), Collin Haynes (BB9900 with three months data), Kristin John (BB 9300 with one month data), Sigourney Joyette (BB 9300 with one month data), Stacey Little (BB 9300 with one month data), Norgie Tucker (Samsung Galaxy S3 with one year data). Bertram Jacob, one of the finalists, did not turn up to take part in the grand finale.

The Crack the Code finale also saw a number of persons walking away with gifts from Digicel, while a popular character around Kingstown, ‘Muntai’, won himself a case of Hairoun Beer for winning the Digicel ‘Best Smile’ Competition.

During the life of the Crack the Code promotion, a number of persons won weekly cash prizes of EC$2,000, electronic gadgets in the form BlackBerry smartphones and Samsung handsets and tablets. Persons also won data and free credit.
