Karib Cable gives food baskets, vouchers to nation’s elderly, poor

Elderly and underprivileged persons across St Vincent and the Grenadines were provided with food baskets and meal vouchers from telecommunications company, Karib Cable on October 16.{{more}}

The initiative, the company’s sales and marketing manager, Elroy Edwards, said, was part of World Food Day celebrations, observed annually.

Edwards said in a press release that Karib Cable believes it is their duty to give back by assisting the elderly and less fortunate.

“We at Karib Cable will forever hold the elderly of St Vincent and the Grenadines with high regards and will do anything in our power to improve the socio-economic standard of the elderly. It is our honour to serve and give back to the people of St Vincent and the Grenadines through donations.”

This initiative came in for very high praise from persons within the communities and recipients alike, Edwards said.

One of the recipients, Roslyn Solomon of Lashin Hill, Barrouallie, said she is very thankful to Karib Cable for the food basket.

“This is really a surprise and a blessing,” she said.

“I am very happy and thank Karib Cable for the food items,” said Ardon Mattis, another recipient.

The release said some persons Francois Village, Vermont, expressed gratitude to Karib Cable and the wish that “more companies will see the need to assist the elderly, especially in times like these when things are not well economically”.

Karib Cable said it intends to make this activity a yearly event.
