The forum takes place at the National Insurance Services conference Room at Upper Bay Street, Kingstown.

The theme of the forum is “Addressing Occupational Safety and Health in a Modern Legislative Framework”.

The main objective is to empower employers to advance/promote occupational safety and health, and to employ standards at their respective organisations, with a view to responding adequately to the proposed occupational safety and health legislation for St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The topics of focus are: the importance of OSH standards in the workplace, policy and legislation, highlighting the relevant ILO conventions and recommendations on OSH, and employers’ responsibility or liability.

The keynote speakers for the forum are Anne Knowles, senior specialist for employers’ activities, and Dr Yuka Ujita, OSH specialist, from the ILO Caribbean Office. There would also be addresses from the tripartite partners: Minister of Labour Maxwell Charles, President of the National Labour Congress Noel Jackson, and President of the St Vincent Employers’ Federation Helena Thomas.

The forum targets the chief executive officers and senior personnel from among the Employers’ Federation’s membership, the business community and the tripartite partners.
