Five Vincentian journalists head to Republic of China on Taiwan

Searchlight Senior Reporter Junior Jarvis is among a group of five journalists from St Vincent and the Grenadines who will travel to the Republic of China on Taiwan,{{more}} as part of an international media group that will attend the 2012 National Day celebrations in that country.

This follows an invitation from the Taipei government, through their embassy here, facilitated by the embassy counsellor, Michael Lin.

The Vincentian group will be led by Elson Crick, the Communications Consultant in the Office of the Prime Minister.

The others are the Head of the API Jimmy Prince, radio announcer Abigail Haynes of NBC radio, and information officer Zingha Greaves from the API. The group leaves the country today.

They will spend one week in Taiwan during which they will visit a number of important media and national institutions in that country, and engage in talks with key government officials there.

The highlight of the visit will be a meeting with the 48 Vincentian students who are currently studying in Taiwan.

The group is expected to return to the state on October 14.
