2012 SVG Independence Bible Festival begins tonight


A number of churches from around the country are expected to participate in the first round of the preliminaries in the 2012 SVG Independence Bible Festival,{{more}} which begins at 7 p.m. at the Faith Temple Church in New Montrose.

The Festival, which is into its fourth year and is being organized by the SVG Gospel Fest Committee under the theme: “Wisdom Through The Word of God” will see the defending champs Apostolic Faith Mission Bequia going for a fourth successive title.

The National Independence Bible Festival, which was started in 2009, comprises Impromptu Speech, where participants speak on a topical social or religious issue.

Bible Boxing in which participants face off against each other, alternating in quoting scripture verses, and Bible Drama when participants will pick a random character from the Bible and portray or dramatize that person.

The Quiz section will include six rounds of questions from the Authorized King James version of the Bible and include: The Story of Jesus; General Knowledge; Men in the Bible; When God Spoke; Finish This Verse; Bible Study.

A release from the SVG Gospel Fest Committee says that the Total Inspiration 100.5 SVG Bible Festival was developed to encourage persons to read and study the Word of God, as recorded in the Bible for healthy spiritual development and effective Christian service, as well as to increase the frequency, variety and quality of Christian activities in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The final of the festival will take place on Sunday, October 14 at the Faith Temple Church, when the top five churches will compete for trophies and prizes.
