Minister to hold series of ‘discuss agriculture’ consultations with nation’s farmers


The Ministry of Agriculture has organized a series of consultations with the farming communities dubbed “Meet with the Minister – Let’s Discuss Agriculture”.{{more}}

The consultations will be held on next Tuesday and Wednesday and then from October 22 to 31.

Minister of Agriculture Saboto Caesar indicated that the consultations come in response to rapid assessment the sector and the requests from the farming communities who have indicated the need for more intensive discussions and dialogue on the way forward for the sector.

The Ministry, in a release said they have been preparing a number of programming initiatives and investment opportunities which will be presented by the Minister, followed by discussions.

The first consultations will take place on Tuesday at the Fitz Hughes Learning Resource Centre for farmers from Belle Isle to Richmond. Wednesday’s session will take place at the Vermont Community Centre for farmers from Barrouallie to Gibson Corner.

According to the Minister, the consultations will be held for all investors in the agricultural sector, including farmers, agro-processors, home gardeners, production groups, marketers/exporters, Imput suppliers and financial institutions. He will be accompanied by senior officials in the Ministry, as well as the agricultural Staff in the respective areas. The sessions will commence each day at 4:30 p.m.
