The young pannists were part of the 12th graduation ceremony of the orchestra last Sunday afternoon at the Sion Hill Village hard court, at which they were presented their certificates.

And, when they had the opportunity to demonstrate their new found skills, they did so with aplomb, performing three numbers: Ben, Many Rivers to Cross and Oh What a Night.

The graduating class of 2012 was trained by Jason James and junior pan player, 15-year-old Angelique Fitzpatrick.

Sunday’s ceremony was addressed by area representative Arnhim Eustace; Anthony Theobalds, who represented the Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture; Luke Browne, a supporter of the Sion Hill Euphonium Steel Orchestra and young arranger and pannist Rodney Small, who is fast becoming a virtuoso.

But it was not only pan and speeches, as the Agape Methodist Dramatists entertained with two drama presentations.(RT)
