Senior public servants take up new posts

Several senior public servants, including some permanent secretaries, took up new responsibilities in the government service, effective yesterday.{{more}}

SEARCHLIGHT has confirmed that former Chief Fisheries Officer Raymond Ryan has been appointed to act as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. He replaces Permanent Secretary Nathaniel Williams, who has been transferred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Consumer Affairs as permanent secretary.

Williams will fill the vacancy left by Andreas Wickham, who has been named this country’s first resident ambassador to Venezuela.

His wife Yvette, who has been assigned the post of Minister Counsellor at the Embassy, will assist Wickham at the Embassy. She is Senior Finance Officer in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning.

Rosita Snagg, who was permanent secretary in the Ministry of National Reconciliation, the Public Service, Labour, Information and Ecclesiastical Affairs, has proceeded on pre-retirement leave.

Former Director of the Public Sector Reform Unit (PSRU) Coreen Gonsalves, who has been appointed to act as permanent secretary, will fill her vacancy.

Tricia Pompey will act as permanent secretary in the Ministry of Telecommunications, Science, Technology and Industry until January 2013, when Permanent Secretary Lanceford Weekes returns from vacation.

The new Director of the PSRU is Clarence Harry, former Director of Trade. Former hospital administrator Cuthbert Knights will fill the vacancy left by Harry’s transfer.

Sister Ynolde Smart has been appointed to act as Hospital Administrator.

Prior to this appointment, Smart was the senior nursing officer in charge of the Mental Health Centre.
