Yesterday, construction workers from JAGS Construction Co., owned by John Greaves, were rebuilding the upper floor of the school, where the principal’s office and Grade six classrooms were gutted by the blaze.

Workers told SEARCHLIGHT that they began repairing the school on Thursday.

“We [are] working everyday and as late as possible to make sure we can finish before school reopens [on September 3],” one worker said.

The workers have already replaced the rafters for the roof, which the fire had destroyed.

The walls outside the principal’s office and the Grade six classrooms are also being reconstructed.

“We should finish in time,” another worker shouted, as he continued nailing a rafter.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport and Works Hudson Nedd told SEARCHLIGHT that he was unable to give a comment on the development.

He, however, said that a release would be issued to the media on the recent developments. (AA)
