The stone crushing plant is already on site and is awaiting the commencement of installation, which is scheduled to begin on August 20, a release from the IADC said.

According to the release, other recently acquired equipment includes a paver, two front end loaders, and a rock hammer. This equipment and the dump trucks arrived under the supply of quarry and base laying equipment contract with RIMCO.

A quantity of CAT rock trucks is expected to be here at the end of August.

“The purchase of the equipment was made possible through the Caricom Development Fund (CDF) and last week the IADC welcomed a delegation from the CDF which was on the ground to assess the progress being made on the site and to see firsthand the equipment which have been purchased from their funds,” the release said.

The delegation from the CDF was headed by Lennox Forte—Director of the regional development division of the CDF, and included Programme Specialist Keiron Barker—CDF’s Relationship Officer for SVG and Wayne Vidalist—Financial Controller.

According to Barker, they are very pleased with what they have seen so far and are now anticipating the arrival of the Airfield Lighting system, which the CDF is also funding and which is expected to arrive in SVG by September.

The CDF is an institution established by the heads of government of Caricom to assist countries using the resources from other countries.

St Vincent and the Grenadines is among the first to have benefitted from this newly instituted fund.
