The 20th annual Vincy family picnic was held last Saturday, on a beautiful, sun-drenched day, at its usual picturesque Brown’s Bay Park location at Thousand Islands in Ontario.{{more}}

This event is a fixture on the social calender of Vincentians in Canada, the USA, Europe and around the world, wherever it is heard of.

Perhaps the world comes to party with us and none is left unhappy.

They arrive very early to get the best and shaded locations, and by mid-morning, the park is alive with music, tents being erected and barbecues going.

Another big attraction is the commercial aspect, as enterprises at home and worldwide do a brisk business; souvenirs from all the sister islands can also be bought.

By noon, the park was in full swing, as thousands mingled. A sense peace and joy surrounded those present, making the travelling worth the trip.

Welcome remarks were made by Evans Bernard John, followed by SVG Consul General to New York Selmon Walters.

Steve Clark, MPP Leeds and Grenville representative of the district praised the Vincentian Associations of Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal for their continued support of the park.

Entertainment from various artistes, and women in their beautiful carnival costumes gyrating to Vincy music had the crowd dancing.

This event always leaves you waiting for the next year. A big word of thanks to the Ontario Provincial Police, the Park’s employees, organizers and volunteers for the professional manner, making our picnic the biggest and best one yet.

The next picnic will be the third Saturday in July 2013.
