At a Friday, July 6 press conference at the Invest SVG conference room, the students, accompanied by parents and representatives from the companies they would be employed with, joined with representatives of Invest SVG, to applaud the program which exposes the youngsters to the work environment.

The business places were congratulated by Executive Director of Invest SVG Cleo Huggins, for coming on board with the program, and making it more successful than the inaugural year.

Last year, four businesses were part of the program. Huggins used the opportunity to encourage more business places to come on board when the program rolls around in 2013.

The businesses involved are Invest SVG, which will employ Shamarsh Adams and Roxanne Richards, both of the Thomas Saunders Secondary School, who would be placed in the Research and Information Development and Business Facilitation Departments respectively. Jeussana Bacchus of the St Joseph’s Convent Kingstown and Jerron Morris of the North Union Secondary School would also be staffed at the Export Development and Marketing Departments of Invest SVG.

At the St Vincent and the Grenadines Broadcasting Corporation, John Rickards and Daniel Anderson, both of the St Vincent Grammar School will hone their working skills.

The General Employees Co-operative Credit Union will host Avedal Hamilton of the Mountain View Adventist Academy; Zeeshan Blaugh of the Bequia Community High will be employed by Mountain Top Springs;, St Joseph’s Convent Kingstown student Zenica Francis will be employed at the International Financial Services Authority, while Sinton Garraway will be staffed at IKTV.

The National Insurance Services will be the workplace of George Stephens Senior Secondary School student Antoinique Jack, and Intermediate High School student Claireesa Jacobs will be stationed at Erica’s Country Style.

The internships got started yesterday and will run until Friday, August 10.
