This is one of the aims of the local Insurance Institute, which regards Professionalism as being an essential part of serving the public and was emphasised by President Joe Sheridan in his President’s Report, presented at the AGM on Wednesday, March 21.

Sheridan’s report featured Education and Training, Constitution Review, Risk Management Site Visits, Lunchtime Guest Speakers, and the popular Radio program “Let’s Talk Insurance,” aired on WE FM on Mondays at 8:00 a.m, when listeners can call-in.

Also featured were plans to assist the Supervisor of Insurance with Training and Examinations for Sales Representatives, which will benefit all Vincentians, as well as the sales Representatives themselves.

The out-going President, who initially had been the Insurance Institute’s Founding President in 1997, encouraged Individual Membership of the Institute, since employees frequently move to other employers within the local insurance market.

A strong new Council was elected to continue the leadership of this valuable organization. Michelle Morthely was a popular choice as the new President, whilst Rachel Richards will serve as her Vice-President. Joe Sheridan continues in the role of Immediate Past President, and Yvonne Williams is the incoming Treasurer, with Wade Carter leading the Education role.

Other roles will be filled from within the Institute’s membership.

Incoming President Michelle Morthely thanked the membership, and committed herself and the new Council to raising the standard of insurance locally, through Education, Training, and Learning.
