Education officials get opportunity to design/implement safety plans for schools

Education Officers, teachers and other stakeholders were earlier this week given the opportunity to hone their knowledge and techniques to design, implement and evaluate safety plans for Schools.{{more}}

This took place over a three-day period during a school safety course held by the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) from Tuesday, March 6, 2012.

The School Safety Course exposed participants to the concepts of disaster risk management. Participants were also given information on the key activities to promote and implement a school safety plan, the benefits of emergency management preparedness in school, simulations and drill for schools, and the role of education in risk management.

The School Safety Course is organized by the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA).

The course was held in NEMO’s conference room at its Old Montrose Headquarters.
