“This is certainly an untimely death of a notable Calypsonian and artiste in St Vincent and the Grenadines,” a release from the CDC said.

“He has made a tremendous mark on the world of Calypso in this country with some very memorable songs. He has been an inspiration to many of his contemporaries and to youngsters whom he encouraged to embrace the Calypso art form.

“He was well respected in his community having been a teacher, politician and community activist – helping to propel the good natured spirit of the Marriaqua district. In a number of ways, he was a ‘man-for-all-seasons and will be deeply missed.

“To his family and to his fans, we share your grief and wish you well in these trying times. Rasum would be long remembered in the minds of many, here and abroad. May his soul rest in peace,” the release said.
