The incident occurred around 10:05 a.m. yesterday, when an employee was about to make her way to deposit the money.

According to the employee, a gold Toyota Sprinter, P 4619 pulled up to her, just as she stepped off the business compound at Kingstown Park. A man wearing a bandanna and a pair of sunglasses exited the backseat of the vehicle, demanding that she drop the bag; if she did not he would shoot her.

“I have my two children, so I dropped the bag,” the visibly shaken young woman told SEARCHLIGHT.

Carlos Veira, the owner, said that he has been in business since 1982 and this is the first time that he has had to endure something like this.

He said that he was upstairs and heard the screams from the young woman and when he looked out, he saw the vehicle leaving the scene.

The businessman said that he has made at least five applications for a firearm license, but has yet to be granted one.

“I have been in business for 34 years and I cannot understand why I have not been granted a firearm license,” he said.

The matter is being investigated. (DD)
