Second man in Layou accident dies at hospital

Four days after his friend was taken off life support and died at the Milton Cato Memorial hospital, Fitz Hughes resident Lemore Pierre succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident that hospitalized both men last week.{{more}}

Pierre, 45, and his domino teammate 53-year-old Jex ‘Lala’ Henville, were struck while standing at the Layou main road, by motor vehicle P 4760, driven by Glenroy Bobb of Questelles, following a friendly domino competition, some time after 8:00 pm on the night of Sunday, January 29.

The vehicle was travelling towards Kingstown.

Eyewitnesses say both men were lifted in the air by the impact, and fell some distance away, on top of each other.

Henville, who received severe injuries to his head, never regained consciousness, and was removed from life support on Thursday morning, following which, he died.

His close friend Pierre, also known as ‘One Stone’, also sustained head and other injuries in the mishap.

He was conscious for the most of last week, and communicated with family and friends who visited him at the Male Surgical Ward of the hospital.

He, however, lost the battle for recovery, as his condition worsened on Monday, and he subsequently died, surrounded by loved ones.(JJ)
