There, the eager assembly, who came to be a part of the historic event, heard for the first time on Sunday, January 29, excerpts from the book Poet of the Caribbean: The Musings of a Global Peacemaker, performed by its author Lizzie ‘Mama Lizzie’ Davies.

Davies, a native of the United Kingdom, said that she was inspired to pen her poems, by the nature and people she encountered during her two trips here, and she acknowledged some of her muses, as she delivered animated and inspiring renditions of a number of her pieces, to the applause and chuckles of those in attendance.

The book, which contains more that 50 prose and poems, most of them depicting the Vincentian life and lifestyle, with others written from Lizzie’s introspections, came in for high acclaim by those who purchased their copies and took in a number of its offerings.

Lizzie, who left for Europe the following day, said that the book, like the country and people who inspired its contents, would have a dear place in her heart.

She indicated that Vincentian poetry lovers have not heard the last of her, as she intends to produce more poetic pieces for the entertainment of local, regional and international poetry lovers.(JJ)
