As part of her visit, Thomas interacted with Rotarians and invited guests during a luncheon on January 12, 2012, at the Grenadine House.

Thomas addressed the Rotarians on issues related to their involvement in community developmental programmes, the current work being done in the district, and also offered encouragement to Rotarians present.

Thomas, a Rotarian since 2000 and a member of the Central Port-of-Spain Rotary Club, is the second female District Governor assigned to the Southern Caribbean region, which ranges from Antigua to the Guianas. Thomas is also the youngest female to serve as District Governor. Thomas is responsible for 69 Rotary Clubs in 14 countries, including the 33 Rotaract Clubs and 30 Interact Clubs throughout the district.

“It had been an extraordinary adventure. It’s a gift, a privilege to serve this district,” Thomas said, as she made remarks during the luncheon.

Thomas also gave updates on several programmes in which Rotary is involved, including the tree planting programmes and relief work being done in Haiti. Thomas, however, stated that more work can be done in these areas, and furthermore encouraged the Rotarians present to become involved in these projects.

She also encouraged them to keep a smooth flow of communication between herself and the District, always keeping her up to date on their concerns, activities and programmes.

Rotarians also interacted with the District Governor, asking questions on several issues. Thomas was also presented with a gift by the Rotary Clubs of St Vincent and the Grenadines.
