The visiting team of Medical Specialists is from the Avera McKennan Hospital in South Dakota. The medical team comprises Anesthesiologist – Dr. Ryan Schellpffefer; Gastroenterologist – Dr. Larry Schafer; Dr. Paul Benninga – Nurse Anesthetic, Gastrointestinal Technician – Debra White, and Vincentian Dr. Stephen Nanton – Gastroenterologist, among others.

Last year, a similar team from the Avera McKennan Hospital established a modern and technological endoscopy service through which persons were able to seek treatment and attention for their upper and lower gastrointestinal tracts. Throughout the week, the team will again be providing ongoing free medical clinics to persons with gastrointestinal problems at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.

Vincentian Gastroenterologist, Dr. Stephen Nanton has returned to the country on several occasions last year since the team’s inaugural visit to oversee the establishment of the modern and technological endoscopy service. He has also been responsible for training and transferring the skills necessary for the operation and upkeep of the equipment handed over to the Hospital last year.
