Thomas was awarded with a cheque during a ceremony at the NLA headquarters on Wednesday, January 11.

Thomas, a resident of Prospect, purchased the winning ticket on Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at the Huffles Ranch in Brighton. The winning numbers were 3, 7,13,16,34 for a Jackpot of $356, 000.

Thomas, speaking at the ceremony, expressed her excitement on winning the Jackpot. Thomas admitted that she was a bit confused at first as she had misplaced the ticket, and upon finding it, couldn’t believe she had won.

She, however, confirmed her win with the NLA.

Thomas, who spent several years abroad, in Canada and England, stated that she will not be spending the money badly. Though she is uncertain of the exact way in which she wants to use the money, she stated that her winnings will be secured in the bank until such time.

General Manager of the NLA, McGregor Sealey, congratulated Thomas on her winnings, also encouraging her to spend the money wisely and to continue to play the NLA games. He also encouraged the general public to continue to support the NLA as they contribute to the building of the nation. (OS)
