This venture has been going on for 20 years. It was centered mainly in the Calliaqua district for many years until 2007, when it was decentralized and distributed to other areas of St. Vincent.

Since 2007, baskets were distributed in Lowmans (WD), Sandy Bay, Barrouallie, Layou, Colonarie, Richland Park, Chateaubelair, Biabou, Vermont, Arnos Vale, Prospect and Owia.

John West of TMM (Tortola Marine Management), over the years contributed tremendously to make this event possible. Along with TMM, many business houses and private individuals make meaningful contributions. This year also the Rotary Club South came on board and made their contribution to the venture and promised to be a partner with Coast Guard in the future.

To date 1,400 food baskets have been given out by the Coast Guard. The food baskets this year were coordinated by Leading Seaman Lisa Browne, who was assisted by members of the Coast Guard.

The clinics in the districts are usually vested with the responsibility of selecting the persons to receive the baskets.
