According to a release from ACCA Caribbean, attainment of Approved Employer status is a reflection of the support provided for the continuing professional development needs of its staff and a clear indication that Digicel’s employee development programmes are on par with global best practice.

As a result, Digicel Eastern Caribbean has joined an elite group of employers around the world and will now gain access to specialized services and knowledge through ACCA’s various products, specifically customized for approved employers.

Commenting on this development, Holly Hughes-Mc Namara FCCA, chief financial officer of Digicel in the Eastern Caribbean, said, “As a continually growing and evolving company, Digicel recognises the importance of continuous development for our team of highly skilled finance professionals. ACCA Approved Employer status will allow our internal development programmes to be recognised under the ACCA’s requirement for Continuing Professional Development. We are happy to offer our ACCA qualified employees this vehicle to ensure that their development goals are fully achieved, whilst continuing to deliver on providing our customers with the best service, best value and best network commitment that underpins our business.”

Maria Batson, manager, ACCA Eastern Caribbean added that, “This is such a positive step for Digicel Eastern Caribbean and I commend them on their demonstrated commitment to the professional development of their employees. The scope of approval covers the territories of St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Grenada, Dominica, Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda, Anguilla, St. Kitts and Nevis and British Virgin Islands (BVI) and we hope that this motivates them to pursue the trainee development stream for the EC and possibly extend coverage to the other Caribbean regions in which the Digicel Group operates.”

The ACCA Approved Employer programme can be used to compare and certify the training policies and procedures of organisations, against ACCA’s global best practice standards, providing independent assurance for their learning systems. ACCA’s Approved Employer programme continues to grow and now has over 8,000 employers registered worldwide.
