All Girl Guides are mandated to wear the Purple Ribbon, the colour chosen internationally for the Elimination of Violence Against Women Campaign. The Guides are extending an invitation to the entire nation to wear a Purple Ribbon next Friday, or to wear the colour purple as a token of awareness of the scourge that has touched St. Vincent and the Grenadines, especially lately.

Violence against women and young girls in this country is unacceptable in any way, form or fashion, and will be fought against through advocacy, change dynamics and the force of the Law. The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Girl Guides Association is asking NGOs, CBOs and FBOs to join the National Campaign to end all forms of violence against women-physical, sexual, psychological and extreme verbal abuse.

The Association is calling on our men folk to join this worthy cause. Guides and former Guides, Brownies and their parents are asked to show their solidarity with the cause in St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Friday, November 25, 2011. Wear the colour-Purple.
