CT-Scan service available in SVG

Four months after the GE Brightspeed Computed Tomography (CT-Scan) Machine was commissioned at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH),{{more}} some fifty-five patients have been able to benefit from this service being available to Vincentians right here at home.

The examinations, thus far, include plain and contrast procedures of the head, chest, abdomen and pelvis, with the majority of requests being for the head.

Examinations are being conducted by the eight technicians at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH), while the readings are performed by the two Radiologists at that institution.

These persons were all involved in the recent one-week training programme, conducted by GE application specialist, Bernardo Coyoti of Mexico.

Previously, Vincentians had to travel to Trinidad, Barbados and Grenada for CT-Scan service, which was much more costly for these persons and at times to the State.

Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment Cecil Mckie has lauded the machine as a major asset and tool to enhance the delivery of health care to the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, which will also significantly reduce the Health bill to the individual and state.
