IADC to host one-day public symposium


Members of the general public who are following the progress of the Argyle International Airport will get a chance to have an even closer look at the development of this project{{more}} when the International Airport Development Company (IADC) hosts a one-day public symposium next week.

The symposium which will be held on Tuesday, November 8, is being held to bring government officials, members of the private sector and the public at large up to date on the progress being made as it relates to the construction of the Argyle International Airport and the way forward with the project.

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves will address the symposium, while CEO Dr. Rudy Matthias will deliver welcoming remarks.

Consultant Engineer Leonardo Perez will make a presentation detailing the progress so far on the construction of the airside facilities, which include, among other things, the runway, taxiways, aprons, platforms. He will also address what remains to be done to see the project to its completion.

Chief Project Engineer Jeffery Cato will detail the work to date on the landside facilities and what is yet to be done. The landside facilities include, among others, the passenger and cargo terminals, the fire and rescue station, the control tower, parking lot, electrical substation.

Following each presentation, persons will have a chance to ask questions based on the presentations.

Members of the public are being asked to make a special effort to attend this very important forum which is scheduled to get going at 9:00 am on Tuesday, November 8, at the NIS conference center in Kingstown.
