8 qualify for Leo Club Primary Schools’ Literacy Competition Finals
Eight students have successfully qualified for the finals of the Leo Club St. Vincentâs 13th Annual Primary Schoolsâ Literacy Competition which will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2011, at Frenchesâ House from 2:00 p.m.{{more}}
The eight finalists are: Lodge Village Government, Sariah Jackson; Stubbs Government, Fahlan Simon; Georgetown Government, Dandre Toney; Barrouallie Anglican, Kyla Bulze; Paget Farm Government, Brianna Richards; Kingstown Prep. School, Kelcey Allen; Paradise Primary, Zakiya Ollivierre; Mustique Government, Emilie Richards.
Students will be judged in two rounds. Round One will feature the students reading their own prepared passage on the topic âThe Environment is Worth Protecting. Do you Agree or Disagree?â In Round Two, a spontaneous passage will be read and two questions asked based on that passage.
This competition, which was formerly known as the Leo Club St. Vincent Primary Schoolsâ Reading Competition, seeks to encompass all components of literacy, which are writing, reading and comprehension.
Last yearâs winner was Lynallia Isaacs of the Buccament Government School.
This yearâs competition is sponsored by CIBC First Caribbean International Bank, East Caribbean Group of Companies, St. Vincent Electricity Services Ltd, Jujube Inc., Vincy Gold Natural Spring Water and Right Stuff.
