Renwick Rose of the Windward Islands Farmers Association (WINFA), Chairman of the Caribbean Policy Development Centre (CPDC) and CPDC Deputy Coordinator Shantal Munro-Knight are heading Caribbean participation at the Caribbean Peoples Forum which opens on Tuesday, October 25, as a prelude to the gathering of Heads of States and Governments.

The Forum brings together representatives of civil society organisations from around the Commonwealth to discuss and debate key issues and engage Commonwealth leaders on global development matters.

The three-day forum begins with an official opening to be addressed by Australian Prime Minister Julia Gilliard and Commonwealth secretary General, His Excellency Kamalesh Sharma. Two days of intensive assemblies and workshops will follow, with Rose making presentations on “Governance and Democracy” and “Economic Development” from a Caribbean perspective.

The conclusions of the Forum are to be shared with Commonwealth Foreign Ministers at a Dialogue on Thursday, and these in turn are expected to be fed into the deliberations of the CHOGM when the Heads meet on the weekend.
