The CIBC/FCIB Unsung Hero Programme is a regional initiative aimed at recognising and honouring individuals within the community who serve selflessly without reward and recognition. The bank views this initiative as a standard-bearer for volunteerism in the region.

The local winner will be presented with a sum of US$6,000 towards their cause, among other prizes and gifts. The 2011 Unsung Hero will also go on to participate in the regional competition, which is being judged later this month. A further US$7,500 will be on offer, should the local hero win the regional competition. Since the programme’s inception in 2003, St. Vincent and the Grenadines has had six finalists at the regional level, three regional heroes and two regional runners-up.

This Saturday’s Dinner and Awards ceremony will begin at 7.00 PM. It will hear addresses from Governor General Sir Frederick Ballantyne, Minister of Social Development Frederick Stephenson and CIBC/FCIB Country Manager Elroy John.
