API: Chief Statistician supervises burning of Census Data at Rabacca

The Agency for Public Information has announced that Chief Statistician Gatlin Roberts supervised the burning of questionnaires and data collected during the 2011 National Housing and Population Census.{{more}} According to Roberts, the Statistics Department took this action because of the fire that occurred at the Financial Complex on Saturday, October 15, 2011.

The burning took place at the Rabacca dry river on Thursday, October 20, 2011.

Roberts said some documents were burnt during the fire at the Financial Complex, while others were destroyed by water used to put out the fire. She added that it was necessary for the department to burn the documents to maintain confidentiality and to satisfy the public that their data will not be put in the public domain even as they are unable to use the questionnaires.(API)
