Vincentians in New York to celebrate independence in grand style


The Consulate General of St. Vincent and the Grenadines of New York and the Council of St. Vincent and the Grenadines Organisation USA, Inc. (COSAGO) have a planned two major activities to celebrate this country’s 32nd anniversary of independence.{{more}}

The annual Independence Church service takes place this Sunday, October 23, at the St. Phillip Episcopal Church, located at 265 Decatur Street in Brooklyn.

The service begins at 3:00 p.m., and will be presided over by Rector Archdeacon Reverend Carver Israel, with the guest preacher being the Rt. Reverend Leopold Friday, the Bishop of the Windward Islands.

The following Sunday, October 30, there will be the hosting of a Gala Luncheon from 2:00 to 7:00 pm at the Tropical Inn Ballroom, located on 1367 Utica Avenue, between Foster Avenue and Farragut Road.

The keynote speaker at this luncheon is Judge Emile Cox.

Honourees for the special event are Simeon Simmons, Ynolde Walkin and Cyril “Scorcher” Thomas.

Live entertainment will come from calypsonian Alston “Becket” Cyrus, as well as Frankie and the Eqwazion Band.
