The meal was provided by members of Service Club of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College (SVGCC) Division of Arts, Sciences and General Studies, to mark World Food Day, which was celebrated internationally on Sunday, October 16, 2011.

The outreach took place from 12:00 pm, under the Singer building, where over 80 persons were served.

The Service Club members were amazed at the turnout.

One remarked: “It’s surprising, the number of persons who go without a good meal. The experience was very humbling and it reminds you how fortunate you are to be able to walk into your kitchen and make something to eat at anytime of the day.”

The Service Club is one of the oldest at the Division of Arts, Sciences and General Studies and continues to follow their motto: “Serving Our Society” through visitations, fundraising, workshops and other outreach activities like this.
