UWI Independence Lecture, October 18 – Methodist Church Hall


The Annual Independence Lecture hosted by The University of the West Indies Open Campus, and co-sponsored by the CIBC First Caribbean Bank International, will take place on Tuesday, October 18,{{more}} at the Methodist Church Hall and Community Building from 7:00 pm.

Renowned Barbadian and Caribbean novelist and poet George Lamming will deliver the lecture on the topic ‘Rethinking Perspectives on Independence’.

Lamming is one of the Caribbean’s leading writers and intellectuals, having written several novels and other works of non-fiction. Among his novels are “In the Castle of My Skin”, “Of Age and Innocence.”, and “Natives of my Person”. He has served as Writer-In-Residence, at leading Universities throughout the world, including the University of the West Indies.

The general public is invited to attend the lecture. Patrons are requestd to be seated by 6:45 pm.
