Simmons-McDonald made a visit, with Director of UWI Open Campus Country Sites Luz Longsworth, on September 26, as part of the Heads’ official trips to begin the refurbishment of amenities and services.

The Pro-Vice Chancellor and Principal also took the opportunity to speak with students who aired their complaints and reassured them that their matters were noted. She thanked the students for making UWI Open Campus their university and encouraged them to continue learning, since they were not only enhancing themselves but their country.

Simmons-McDonald also took the opportunity to thank the outgoing Head Dr. Adrian Fraser for over 20 years of service. She described him as an excellent researcher, writer and historian and said that she looked forward to more publications.

She welcomed the new St. Vincent Head Deborah Dalrymple and called on staff to cooperate and work with Dalrymple to improve the higher learning institution.

A team from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) was also present and engaged in talks with the staff and students on how best the Open Campus St. Vincent site could be transformed into a more student-friendly environment.
