Portugal’s new head reaffirms commitment to laptop initiative

The Government of Portugal has reaffirmed the commitment of the previous Portuguese government to continue the delivery of laptops to the students of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.{{more}}

During his trip to the United Nations last week, Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves sought and received reaffirmations of the previous commitments to SVG with the One Laptop Per Child initiative and the construction of the Argyle International Airport.

The new Prime Minister of Portugal, Pedro Passos Coelho, pledged to expedite delivery of the remaining laptops of Portugal’s 30,000 laptop commitment.

Turkey, Venezuela and Qatar also recommitted themselves to partnering with the government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines on the construction of the Argyle International Airport, and Venezuela pledged to fast-track other outstanding commitments to be delivered via ALBA mechanisms.
