This year’s competition will feature some of the best up and coming DJ’s and dancers in the country who will vie for over $10,000 in prizes and the right to be known as the Heineken Green Synergy and Dance-Off champions, respectively.

In the DJ clash, contenders will put their skills to the test coming up against each other in two rounds of competition.

They will be judged based on music selection, crowd response, crossover mixing and technique.

The top DJ’s from each round will advance to the clash round where they will go head to head against each other in an elimination format.

This year’s competition features for the first time a dance-off competition and according to Heineken Brand Manager, Dominic Brisbane, this was incorporated to coincide with the Vincentian culture.

Five DJ’s will be selected to come up against the 2010 Heineken Green Synergy DJ Champion DJ Multivator to compete for $5,000 and a chance to represent the country in the regional finals in September.

Individuals or groups will dance to the different beats by a performing DJ and the crowd will then judge the best two dancers or groups who will then compete in a head to head battle to select a winner.

The winning dancer or group from each of the five preliminaries will then advance to the final event to compete for a cash prize of $2,000.

“The Heineken Green Synergy Competition is an annual event that celebrates the cultural diversity of the Caribbean through music,” Brisbane said.

“Each year this event creates an avenue for discovering upcoming talents and giving these youngsters an opportunity to showcase their skills,” he continued, adding that this year’s event promises to provide an exciting spectacle to include the dance element.(DD)
