The gift included 10 high quality soccer balls, a duffle bag for the soccer balls, tennis racquets, ball pump, tennis balls, notebooks, pens, pencils, erasers, rulers and resource books to be placed in the school’s library.

Acting Principal Kay Martin-Jack said that the gift was most welcome, noting that the sporting equipment was really needed. Games Teacher Alrick Wright, who is ably assisted by national under-17 soccer coach Wayde “L Bear” Jackson, also a teacher at the school, agreed that the sporting gear was indeed timely, noting that last year’s preparation of the soccer team was hindered by only having three soccer balls with which to train. Both trainers were greatly appreciative of the kind and welcome gesture by Riggs Construction.

This is the third occasion that Riggs Construction NY has provided gifts to schools in SVG, the other beneficiaries being the Fancy Government School and Du Bois Primary School. Donald De Riggs, close relative of the benefactor, handed over the gift on behalf of Riggs Construction NY.

In related news, later the same day, the Questelles Government School also received a gift from Riggs Construction. The donation included an Internet ready PC with flat screen and desk speakers, 3 new soccer balls, tennis balls, along with a quantity of pens, pencils and notebooks.

Headteacher Orde Ballantyne thanked Riggs Construction for the gift, noting that the school also needs a printer/scanner and Internet service to facilitate the reproduction of course material.
