That chance paid off for the Gibson Corner resident, who became the final winner of the game’s jackpot for 2010, and the fifth winner from St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

On December 31st, 2010, at 7:48pm, Baptiste bought a quick-pick at the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation booth on Bay Street which carried the winning numbers 4, 6, 17, 23, 24, 27.

His purchase made him $245,000 richer.

Originally from Owia, Baptiste collected his cheque, minus taxes, this Wednesday, January 12, at the National Lotteries Authority headquarters in Paul’s Avenue.

Baptiste, who is the father of an eight-year-old daughter said that he is very happy to win the grand prize, and that he plans to pay off a number of debts with his winnings.

He said he also plans to continue playing the lottery so he can win another grand prize to fund his daughter’s university education.

He encouraged others to play the lottery so that they could stand a chance of winning prizes as well.(JJ)
